Icy and slippery conditions are expected as an accumulation of frost and snow is set to build on untreated surfaces...

Experts say we can expect a seriously cold weekend ahead because The Met Office has issued a snow and ice warning for the whole of the UK.

We can expect 'very cold' conditions over the coming days with widespread frost and minimum temperatures of -3°C predicted in some parts of the country.

Scattered sleet and snow showers are expected to occur largely in Scotland and the North of England this weekend but some showers may penetrate into central and eastern areas at times with the odd flurry further south.

Wintry showers are expected to be confined to northern areas by Saturday evening.

A Met Office forecaster also confirmed some areas will see heavy dustings of snow, while temperatures over the weekend may plummet as low as -3-4°C.

Our advice? Wrap up warm and plan your route carefully if you're driving any distance.
