Everyone's Going Mad For Tesco's First £3 Vegan Steak Launching This Month

Apparently it looks, smells and tastes just like the real thing

Veganism - the term used to refer to the focus on a purely plant-based diet - has been absolutely taking the world by storm of late, with new cafes, restaurants, pop-up vendors and exclusive vegan menus and specialist supper clubs popping up all over the country in support of the diet, which campaigns for sustainability and against animal cruelty.

The mainstream supermarkets have been on-board for a while now but Tesco's announcement that they're adding a new 100% plant-based vegan steak to the mix could be a real game-changer.

The product - which is made largely from plant-based sources such as wheat and soy - supposedly looks, smells and even tastes like real steak, The Herald reports.

And veggies and vegans everywhere will no doubt rejoice to hear that Dutch manufacturer Vivera has already began production, with Tesco to be the very first British supermarket to sell the innovative new product from May 2018.

We have to admit we're a little wary, but we're an open-minded bunch of chaps so let's hope this new addition to #VeganLife is just as addictive as those Linda McCartney sausages we've been stacking our freezers full of for months!
