The Princess Diaries magical coming-of-age books by Meg Cabot and subsequent movies starring Anne Hathaway have been on our list of favourites since we were young teens. They taught us a lot about romance, fitting in, and how life doesn’t exactly roll out the way you might expect…
If you were a big fan too, you might just be a teensy bit excited to hear that Anne Hathaway has confirmed that a script has been finalised for Princess Diaries 3 – and that herself and Dame Julie Andrews (who plays Queen Clarisse Renaldi) will both be onboard for it.
The sequel was released way back in 2004 so a fair bit of time has elapsed since. And we’d almost given up hope. But speaking on the chat show Watch What Happens Live, Hathaway was adamant about just how much she is behind the project going ahead.
“There is a script for the third movie. There is a script…I want to do it. Julie [Andrews] wants to do it. Debra Martin Chase, our producer, wants to do it. We all really want it to happen.”
Anne Hathaway went on to say:
“It’s as important to us as it is to you, and we don’t want to deliver anything until it’s ready, but we’re working on it.”
And we cannot wait to see the finished result.
Anne didn’t confirm how far along in the process the movie is as it stands, but we’re keeping our eyes and ears peeled for any further news!
