Those travelling home from work this evening are in for a long commute after various crashes have taken place. 

This was the scene of the earlier crash involving a National Express coach in the southbound M6.

 20 people were on board when it collided with a metal barrier on the side of the motorway.

Two people were taken to hospital, the extent of their injuries is not yet known.

Travellers are currently facing long tailbacks on the M62 and M6 during the evening rush hour, with more commotion on the M56 too. 

At present, delays of at least 90 minutes are expected on the M60 near Eccles due to an incident involving two lorries and a van clockwise between junctions 16 and 17.

The MEN reports that traffic is currently queuing from junctions 8 to 17.

And there are also huge delays on the M6 of around 90 minutes due to a multi-vehicle accident southbound around junction 16 for Crewe. (Image credit: Highways England)


Traffic is currently queuing all the way back to junction 18 for Holmes Chapel , as firefighters have had to remove the doors of a coach to free passengers trapped following a crash on the M6 in Cheshire.

Emergency services, including fire crews from Congleton, Sandbach, Alsager and Crewe, were called to the incident on the southbound sliproad of the motorway at junction 16 at 3pm, Signal 1 reports


In total, 20 passengers were in the vehicle. Two casualties were rescued from the coach. Paramedics are on the scene to deal with injuries.

The slip road and lane one of the M6 motorway are now fully closed while the incident is being dealt with, causing severe delays.

Highways England suggest the slip road could be closed until 7pm this evening.
