We all know that nothing beats a proper Sunday roast and Hawksmoor do it as good as anywhere in the city.

It’s all there: Roasted rump, roast potatoes, buttered carrots as well as Yorkshire pud. To top it off it’s all dripping with delicious marrow gravy.

Can’t go wrong, right?

London’s love of steak goes back a pretty long way – the first restaurant in the world to be called a steakhouse wasn’t in New York or Chicago, instead it was a stone’s throw from Hawksmoor Guildhall (it went by the unlikely name of Dolly’s which opened in 1710). Britain’s love of roast beef, though, goes back to the dawn of time. We’ve always been pretty proud of our version, which we start over real charcoal before slow roasting until the meat is incredibly tender (a while back Observer Food Monthly were kind enough to award it Best Sunday Roast in the UK). That will stay on, but because sometimes it’s nice to share we’ve decided to add a couple of larger options as well – the richly marbled Prime Rib and achingly tender Chateaubriand.
