Manchester city centre is getting a brand new aparthotel on the site of former flats.

The stylish new hotel, Whitworth Locke, will feature its own yoga studio and Foundation Coffee house, the original site of which is in the Northern Quarter, as well as an underground Speakeasy if guests don't fancy hitting the town.

Based in a stunning 19th century heritage building on the corner of Princess and Whitworth Street, the hotel will house 160 apartments, taking inspiration from the former cotton mill site.

Locke hotels has opened two in the UK before Manchester, including London and Edinburgh, and Manchester will be their biggest yet, due to open in November 2018.

Within the complex, there will also be a yoga studio and CrossFit gym, reports the Manchester Evening News.

A spokesperson for Whitworth Locke said: "Connect with a community of travellers and locals who share your interests.

"You might make a few new friends, discover new ways to enjoy the things you already love, be around other enthusiasts and get someone excited about a new hobby."

There will also be a co-working space within the hotel with free wi-fi and meeting rooms.

The site was once home to The Atrium apartment block, but has since closed down while the hotel is in development.

The building's famous glass atrium will be home to a DJ booth and cocktail bar.
