Storm Caroline is on its way amid warnings of severe weather across greater Manchester.

The Yellow National Severe Weather Warning issued by the Met Office has brought heavy rain sweeping across the whole of the UK, with gales in exposed areas of Scotland and the North - but the weather's worst is set to hit Manchester tomorrow morning.

Following the rain, it's going to get colder, with Arctic air and sunny spells, before wintry showers come in.

The Met Office forecast says that Thursday in Greater Manchester will see a maximum temperature of 6 °C, before blustery snow showers through the evening.

Tonight will drop to a minimum temperature of  -3 °C, and tomorrow will remain windy and bitterly cold with isolated snow showers, but plenty of sunshine for many and a maximum temperature of 4 °C.

Saturday will remain cold and sunny with isolated snow showers and winds easing.

Sunday will bring some snow with significant accumulations, turning brighter with more isolated wintry showers on Monday.
