It’s the shopping mecca for whatever you need – and the owners of Intu Trafford Centre have announced it’s going to get even BIGGER.

There’s a  £74m extension planned for the site which will mean two levels of shops – and a roof – on the Barton Square wing.

They say that they’re ready to go – they just need to sign on the ‘ky anchor tenant’, but there’s not even a hint yet about who it will be, or what the other new premises will include.

Once the green light’s been given, they are planning the start of construction early next year.

The announcement comes after the release of interim financial figures which show the company is performing very well indeed.

They reveal: “At intu Trafford Centre we are planning to enclose the courtyard at Barton Square and enable trading from two levels.

“The project is expected to cost £74 million and will add 110,000 sq ft of additional retail space as well as moving the existing retail profile of Barton Square away from bulky goods.

“The construction is expected to start in early 2018, once the key anchor tenant is signed, and deliver a return of 6 to 7 per cent.”
