However you may feel about Manchester Airport in the present, it's important to remember that its rich history has spanned eight decades.

First opened in June 1938, Manchester was called Ringway Airport, with the first commercial flight heading to Amsterdam via Doncaster.

To celebrate 80 years, Manchester Airport is displaying artefacts at its Runway Visitor Park, free of charge.

Images from their archive show Manchester Airport throughout the years: from when it opened until the present day.
