“The award no one wants to win.”
Bad press is good press, as they say, so maybe this isn’t the worst thing after all.
However, it turns out the worst-looking building in the UK is in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
(Well, anyone who has driven/walked around Stockport town centre in recent years probably did.)
The winner of the Carbuncle Cup 2018 goes to our very own Redrock Stockport complex, a £45m regeneration project featuring a car park, cinema, restaurants, shops and a gym.
Judges said they took comments from members of the public into consideration when selecting the winner, including: “Absolute monstrosity” and “one of the most horrendous architectural responses ever conceived for Greater Manchester”.
What’s your experience with this building? Does it deserve the award?
