The Ugliest Building In The UK Has Been Named—And It's In Greater Manchester
"The award no one wants to win"
"The award no one wants to win."
Bad press is good press, as they say, so maybe this isn't the worst thing after all.
However, it turns out the worst-looking building in the UK is in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
(Well, anyone who has driven/walked around Stockport town centre in recent years probably did.)
The winner of the Carbuncle Cup 2018 goes to our very own Redrock Stockport complex, a £45m regeneration project featuring a car park, cinema, restaurants, shops and a gym.
Judges said they took comments from members of the public into consideration when selecting the winner, including: “Absolute monstrosity” and “one of the most horrendous architectural responses ever conceived for Greater Manchester”.
What's your experience with this building? Does it deserve the award?
