You can hide that anaorak away where it belongs - because despite earlier weather warnings, the Met Office have confirmed that the rain has swerved Manchester and is now set to lash the South instead.

This follows Tuesday's freak thunderstorm and torrential downpours across the Greater Manchester region, causing a #ManchesterStorm social phenomenon and major transport disruptions.

Forecasters expect a fairly dry day most of today and the rest of the weekend with short sunny intervals - but the temperature will remain cool.
