These Are The M&S Stores In Greater Manchester Most Likely To Close

Marks & Spencer stores across the city face potential closure - and a list has now been published by analysts detailing which stores are most likely to face the cut...

Retail experts revealed a total of more than 50 stores they claim are most at risk under the chain’s shock restructuring plans unveiled last week - whereby they will close 30 stores and downsize a further 45.

The high street giant says it will cut back it's clothing offering to focus first and foremost on Simply Food.

Although M&S have not yet revealed which stores might close, market analysts at Local Data Company (LDC) claim that towns and cities with more than one M&S could be at risk, and says M&S may look to focus its efforts on retail parks rather than high street stores in decline...

The LDC list suggests that an M&S store in Manchester may face closure, but it's yet to be determined whether the city centre store on Market Street is the one in question. Stores in Bolton and Rochdale are also at risk. All sell food, clothing and homeware.

Matthew Hopkinson (director of the Local Data Company) has said in a blog:

“Detailed analysis of M&S stores shows one possible area for rationalisation which has resulted from the recent changes to retail parks."
