The Queen and Meghan Markle will be visiting parts of Cheshire today, a spokesperson for the Royal Family has confirmed.

The visit will be Meghan's first official engagement without new husband, Prince Harry, instead, carrying out a series of visits with her grandmother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth.

The Duchess of Sussex and The Queen are due to open the Mersey Gateway Bridge near Warrington, followed by the Storehouse Theatre in Chester.

Cheshire Police released an image of crowds gathering in the streets of Chester, ready for the Royal visit.

The pair will then go for lunch at Chester Town Hall.

A release on the Royal Family's official website reads: "Her Majesty The Queen accompanied by The Duchess of Sussex, will officially open the Mersey Gateway Bridge, at Catalyst Science Discovery Centre, Mersey Road, Widnes, Cheshire.

"Her Majesty The Queen accompanied by The Duchess of Sussex, will officially open the Storyhouse Theatre, Hunter Street, Chester.

"Her Majesty The Queen and The Duchess of Sussex will attend a lunch at Chester Town Hall, 33 Northgate Street, Chester."
