In our hectic, time-poor lives, online dating is becoming so much more popular – especially among us millenials who, hell let’s face it – are pretty flummoxed as to how people even meet any more. Where do they find the time?!

As sites like Tinder seem like the perfect solution for all those problems, Greater Manchester Police have stepped in today to remind us that as fun as it may seem at the time, there can be tons of hidden dangers to online dating and meet-ups, especially when sharing your personal details with a complete stranger.

Greater Manchester Police say that “revealing your full name, date of birth, home address or workplace could lead to identity theft or personal harm.”

The hashtag #safedating is being elevated to remind people in Manchester to follow a few rules if you are going to go for a blind date in the city:

– Always meet somewhere public

– Don’t reveal too many personal details before you’ve met them

– Be wary if the date involves alcohol – stay aware and alert at all times
