Magical Winter Garden & Ice Skating Rink To Transform Manchester!
The Manchester Christmas Market may have just met its match.
A magical winter market featuring an ice skating rink is about to descend on Manchester. Think street food stalls, bar, art space plus live music and DJs.
The so-called Winter Gathering will see the glorious buildings and courtyard opposite Piccadilly train station transformed into a magical market and garden. The exciting project follows a number of successful events hosted at London Road - now the team behind the space want to give this city a sprinkling of festive activity!
The mock-up images below from the organisers show what Piccadilly will look like in a few weeks time (minus the Sim-like spooks.)
When can I go?!
Winter Gathering lands on November 11th and runs throughout the holiday season, opening from Tuesday to Sunday.
By day The Winter Gathering will be the perfect setting to skate and eat with the fam but by night the atmosphere will transform into an after-hours party with live music and internationally acclaimed DJs (watch this space!) Previous line ups have included ‘Solomon’s Yard’ hosted by Norman Jay and Grand Master Flash.
The collaboration is between Allied London's ‘London Road, The Manchester Ice Rink, London based Elemental Events, whose Director Jay Ogugua was one of the main people behind ‘Solomons' Yard’ in Camden Town, and the multi award-winning The Halo Group.
Jay Ogugua from Elemental Events says excitedly:
“London Road is the perfect venue to create a magical experience on the run up to Christmas, the vibe of the place is already very special and we are building on this atmosphere to construct an incredible space for people to come and hang out in where they can eat, drink, skate and dance."
When asked about the competition:
“Manchester is famous for the Christmas markets, with hundreds of thousands of people descending on the City each year. We are offering something new, to compliment this vibrant heritage of the markets, in a building that people have wondered about for many years.”
Santa pants at the ready
Already confirmed for the street food stalls are Steel Smoking, Bangers & Bacon, So Salad Crew and Wing It! There'll be a steady rotation though, all chosen by the British Street Food Awards so there'll be plenty of excuses for a revisit - with bars providing mulled wine, boozy hot choc, local craft beer and cocktails.
We cannot bloody wait.
Tickets for the ice rink aren't on sale yet but our elvish spies are hard at work so we'll have more info for you soon...
