Metrolink bosses have announced big changes to the current tram services next week.
The changes, which will come into effect on January 28, will introduce a later Sunday night tram service and better connections to Manchester Airport from the city centre.
Currently, tram services finish just after 11pm on a Sunday night, but the new improvements coming on January 28 will mean trams will be running an hour later on Sunday nights.
There will be additional platforms at Altrincham and Victoria stations, and services from MediaCityUK will be running to Etihad Campus, where previously it was Piccadilly.
Metrolink bosses said trams will still run at six or 12 minutes as now, and staff will be around stations to assist customers with any questions on the new changes. Additional carriages will be added to some services.
Updates to the Metrolink maps, with more distinguished coloured lines to make it easier to navigate, have also been introduced.
Councillor Andrew Fender, Chair of the Transport for Greater Manchester Committee, said: “More and more people continue to travel on Metrolink and this is a really important service pattern change that is focused on delivering improvements for our customers.
“Metrolink connects large parts of the city region, providing vital links across our towns and cities and the introduction of later running trams on Sundays will be a boost to our night time economy and the many workers and revellers who support it.”
