“It’s Too Dangerous” Firefighters Told To Pull Back As Mill Faces Collapse

Firefighters continue to tackle the blaze at Oldham Mill – and given its magnitude and large-scale destruction, have now employed a specialist hydraulic platform and remote control platform to help tackle the fire by the mill chimney.

Some areas have become far too dangerous to manage and certain members of the Manchester Fire service have been pulled back.

Manchester Fire have tweeted that they’ve had to “pull our firefighters back from this sector” and that bricks are “strewn” all over the street.

Ramsbottom firefighter Adam says he’s been there since 5.30am this morning and that “the heat could be felt from 500 metres away.”
