Police have confirmed to the MEN that three children died in the house fire in Salford this morning.

A 14-year-old girl was declared dead at the scene. An 8-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl were rushed to hospital this morning and later died.

One child, 3-years-old, and their mother are still fighting for their life in hospital.

Police told the MEN that they are treating the fire as suspicious and are now investigating the murder of three children.

The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called at 4.59am on Monday, December 11, to a house on Jackson Street, Worsley.

Four crews from Farnworth, Bolton Central and Eccles attended.

MEN also report that two teenagers were on the scene and managed to escape the blaze, but their condition is not known.

The MEN have also heard reports the police were called to the house prior to the fire at 2am, after reports that a wheelie bin near their home was being set on fire.

Residents and commuters are advised to continue to avoid the area due to road closures.
