A new 183 apartment complex for the Northern Quarter is set for construction as part of a £28.2 million scheme - on the former site of a car park and the Tib Street Horn.

The Citunq Manchester Apartments will be built on Church Street, and is set to include one- and two-bed apartments across nine storeys.

The plans reveal ground-floor commercial space, as well as rooftop gardens and an internal courtyard.

Designed by architects IDP, it's being built by contractor Forrest according to Business Daily and is scheduled for completion in 2019.

Planning permission for the site was granted earlier this year, application from  Tibst Ltd - a joint venture between Salboy Ltd and Factory Estates Ltd - proposed that the horn be dismantled and donated to Manchester City Council.

The intention is for the sculpture to be put up again in another location, reported Insider Media at the time.
