I’ll be the first to put my hands up and admit I’m an absolute sucker for life hacks, some of them (granted) have proved not as amazing as they first appear – but some I use over and over again, and I just know this little gem is going to be one of them.
I’ve always been a bit of a messy eater and massively uncoordinated generally (not the most attractive qualities I’ll admit) but there’s nothing worse than getting a stain or oh-too-obvious smudge on a brand new piece of clothing you’ve just spent half of your pay on.
It sucks and some stains are tough as old boots.
Luckily for us, mum Ashley Baxter from Scotland has shared an absolutely genius hack which removes tough stains using a solution (costing just £2.20 – bargain) which is actually used to sterilise baby bottles.
After Ashley decided to give the cleaning tip a go (she first spotted it on a Mrs Hinch fan page) she says it’s been an absolute heaven-sent solution for getting stains out of whites for her and her children. The product is called Milton Sterilising Fluid and it’s available from Tesco.
“OK so I’m slightly embarrassed to post this, but…
“As little kids explore, spill foods, paints etc, I saw a tip on Mrs Hinch page about Milton steriliser fluid, (Mrs H hasn’t done this, I tried it after seeing on a fan page it takes stains out).”
The fluid is a mild form of bleach and Ashley recommends one part Milton and three parts water in a large mixing bowl with boiling water.
The advice, posted on Facebook has been shared thousands of times with members of the public advising that it gives great results.
