Just when you thought you’d heard it all eh…
A recent survey carried out by Figleaves has revealed that an increasing number of Manchester women are wearing swimwear on a night out, and even during the day – when they aren’t going swimming. Bizarre.
A third of women from Manchester have worn swimwear as part of an outfit – when they had NO intention of going swimming.
1000 women aged between 18-35 took part in the survey conducted by lingerie retailer, Figleaves, revealing that Scottish women show the most skin on a night out, with more women in Glasgow and Edinburgh (31%) than any other UK cities surveyed admitting they’ve worn swimwear as part of a night out outfit.
Women in Manchester came in second, with 26% admitting they’ve worn swimwear on a night out.
The research also looked at how many women are wearing swimwear during the day, when they aren’t going anywhere near a swimming pool.
Here’s a breakdown of the percentage of UK women who’ve admitted to wearing swimwear on a night out…
Glasgow – 42.86%
Manchester – 32.53%
Edinburgh – 28.13%
Southampton – 27.25%
Norwich – 25.93%
London – 25.62%
Nottingham – 25.86%
Birmingham – 25.20%
Bristol – 22.73%
Perhaps even more bizarrely, Figleaves found that 35% of women in Manchester have purchased swimwear that they don’t ever intend to get wet, and just under a fifth (19%) of these women have done so more than once, implying swimwear is no longer worn purely for purpose, and is now seen as a staple style item.
