Young United Defender Leaves Old Trafford On A Permanent Deal

He'll join up with Jaap Stam

Blackett

Tyler Blackett has signed a three-year deal at Reading where he will play under the management of another former United defender, Jaap Stam.

Stam spoke highly of the of the 22-year-old as he told The Royals' website:

“As we know, Tyler is a talented defender who has played for United’s first team. He can play as a left-back or a left-sided centre-back. He has got great potential in the sense that he is quick and athletic, defensively he is strong and he is good at set pieces."

Blackett made 12 appearances for United under former manager Louis Van Gaal before spending last season on loan at Celtic where he only played nine times for the first-team.

He joins the likes of Paddy McNair and Donald Love through the Old Trafford exit door this summer as new manager José Mourinho looks to trim down the size of his squad.
