Tributes Paid As Manchester United Fan Who Passed Away At West Ham Is Named

'A gentleman and a true United fan'

The Manchester United fan who passed away while watching his team play West Ham United at the London Stadium on Monday evening has been named.

Ronnie Greenwood, 71, had traveled to London with a friend but fell to the ground while watching his beloved Red Devils in action.

Both clubs tweeted their condolences yesterday to the lifelong United fan's family and friends.

Ronnie's neighbour Marilyn Dearden told the Manchester Evening News that:

He was a gentleman in every sense of the word. Very kind and thoughtful but never wanted to be in the limelight. He was a true United fan. He was always at games and if he couldn’t make it to the game he would be watching it on television. He really was Manchester United through and through.”

A crowdfunding page has been set up in order to cover the costs of Ronnie's funeral and football fans from up and down the country have contributed. At the time of writing, £3,544 has been raised of a target of £6,000. Anyone who wished to donate can do so by clicking here.
