Two Manchester City Stars Have Been Nominated For The 2016 Ballon D'or

Who can break the Messi/Ronaldo duopoly?

Debruyne

Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne are the only two Manchester City stars to be nominated for the 2016 Ballon D'or.

The nominees were revealed yesterday and the pair join fellow Premier League stars Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez (both Leicester City), Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba (Manchester United), Dimitri Payet (West Ham United) and Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur) on the shortlist.

De Bruyne has been a revelation for City since signing in the summer of 2015 while Aguero has been scoring prolifically for the Citizens since 2011 and finds himself just 30 goals off Eric Brook's club record of 177.

If either player comes out on top it will be the first time since 2007 that neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo has taken the award home.
