A trendy Northern Quarter restaurant is doing their bit for the lovelorn among us with a new innovation that practically forces you to chat to strangers.
Bakerie has unveiled its ‘long table dining’ concept, where you will sit with 31 other people who don’t know.
Of course, you could just take your mates, but where’s the fun in that?
Their website explains: “Bakerie Long Table Dining is a great opportunity to get together with old friends and make some new ones.”
Set along a 40-foot communal dining table, it’s “like turning up for a great dinner party without having to get involved with the washing up”.
Which will be very handy indeed if you meet Mr or Ms Right and the dishes are the last thing on your mind.
Each event will serve a fixed main course with a paired drink, ranging from wines direct from our suppliers to craft beers and the occasional spirit pairing.
Each sitting has 32 tickets available, and you can sit wherever you like, on a first come first served basis.
“You may not know the people beside you, but you will become acquainted within 10 minutes,” the site promises those of us with hope in our hearts.
Table will be seated and served at 7pm, and the bar and waitstaff are yours for the evening – and you can book here, once you’ve selected your preferred evening from the menus provided.
Now all you need to do is brush up on some conversation topics that make knees weak…
