Variations of noodle soup often get a bad rep for being, well, boring. Thai curry noodles though, are a whole different scéal.

Bursting with flavour and more exotic ingredients than your basic leek and potato, Thai curry noodles are food for the soul and you won't find any better place in the city than Tampopo.

While Piccadilly's Shoryu Ramen and the secretive little gem that is Umezushi all do heartwarming bowls, I've found my new fave.

Tampopo makes all its own meals fresh to order and those noodles are damn good.

Hidden downstairs on Albert Square is this charming taste of fresh Eastern cooking...

Its secrets given away only by a neon sign at the front of the store, you'd be forgiven for having walked through the square a hundred times and never be aware that waiting underground is one of the best tastes of authentic pan-asian cooking you can get in Manchester.

A homely, woody interior, red glowing candles and oriental decor all add to the vibe that this is no copycat of an Asian restaurant – it's the real ticket.

Haven't had thai curry noodles yet? The best spot in town is here to burst that cherry

The dish consists of yellow noodles in a red curry sauce with chicken, ginger, garlic, fresh lime and red onion.

As part of the Manchester Food and Drink Festival 2018 Tampopo are offering 'A Taste Tour of Thailand' with the menu featuring Thai staples including the famous thai curry noodles, king pad thai, fiery pad krapow chicken and pork belly hot and sour stir-fry with Jasmine rice.

Indulge in a selection of 7 of the most popular dishes served over 5 courses. The portions are huge (you won't be able to finish it, so get ready for leftovers.)

It's casual yet also swish enough for date night and – best of all – excellent value

For a five course supper club and a glorious evening you can't get better value than this.

It's £18 with only a tenner deposit when you book online here and there's another one happening this Sunday 7th October at 2.30pm. If you fancy a tipple the cocktails are around £8 a go, but the gaff also have a delicious range of Asian beers and wines on offer too.

High-end eats at low-end prices means you'll be visiting this kinda curry speakeasy again and again.
