Afternoon tea is one of those little things in life that is just such a gorgeous indulgence that whenever we partake in it come the afternoon we can’t help but feel super special and just a wee bit posh. Cue sticky-out pinky while sipping the finest Darjeeling – loose-leaf of course, darling.

And, considering the natural slant towards delicate finger foods, oozing strawberry-jam scones and pretty-as-a-picture cakes, not to mention the highly instagrammable #goals esque nature of the whole thing, it makes sense that afternoon tea is often characterised and defined as a typically female thing.

Not any more in Manchester, though.

Always the ones to do things differently, a stunning ‘Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea’ has landed in Bury and the food looks absolutely glorious.

The famous Eagle and Child Inn in Ramsbottom is well-known and loved by locals for its upscale, gourmet pub offering, rustic-chic rooms, beautiful countryside views and high-end regional dining. But what many people don’t know about is its male-focused afternoon tea.

Feast your eyes on this…

The Lancashire offering, so good that it’s earned the venue the winning title of ‘Pub of the Year’ in the Great British Pub Awards 2017 as well as ‘Best Family Dining’ Lancashire Life Awards, 2017′ boasts a range of delicious sandwiches.

Expect Bowland Beef, homegrown tomato, watercress English Cucumber, Dill and Horseradish Cream Cheese sarnies alongside Manchester smoke house Salmon, Garden Herb mayonnaise, yuzu Garden Soft Boiled Egg, Savouries Cissy Greens dinky Pork Pie Ham hock and apple bon bons, Spicy chicken wings, ‘Snag’ bangers.

And of course, a selection of Lancashire cheeses with tomato relish, apple + date chutney, Eagle + Child piccalilli will also be available with a selection of teas or filter coffee.

Fancy it?

Course ya do! The gentleman’s afternoon tea is a reasonable £14.95 per person, and there’s also a traditional afternoon tea option featuring freshly baked raisin scones, clotted cream and homemade seasonal jam and classic lemon drizzle sponge as well as chocolate brownie, creme fraiche and raspberries and carrot cake with an orange glaze.

And you can wash it all down with a very elegant gin and tonic teapot, if ya fancy 😉
