Bars in Manchester certainly aren’t hard to come by. With an extensive selection in all areas, our city is home to many hidden gems. From more traditional boozers to cushy, luxurious surroundings, we’re spoilt for choice.
Recently we treated ourselves to a glass of Prosecco and a couple of sumptuous cocktails at Épernay, named after the French commune and home to the Avenue de Champagne – a street which features leading Champagne manufacturers.
Hidden away in the Great Northern Tower, you can enjoy a glass of something really special in glamorous surroundings here…
Decadent Épernay has exposed brick walls, a large, well-stocked bar – very traditional in its appearance, and a contemporary and stylish balcony, an extra special location to enjoy your cocktails whilst overlooking Manchester’s vibrant Great Northern leisure complex.
Épernay endeavour to deliver the highest quality Champagne, their Champagne by the glass includes 15 varieties, the largest selection in Manchester. Their multi-award winning bar team also serve a bespoke cocktail menu with spirits to reflect seasonal flavours.
Their cocktail menu is extensive and indulgent, offering fizzy Champagne and Prosecco cocktails such as their seasonal Champagne Punch (ask your server for this weeks flavour) “Funky Cocktails” like their Candyshop Sling with Absolut Raspberry vodka, strawberry, Vimto and lemonade garnished with sweets!
They offer a “Quirky Cocktails” menu for the more adventurous, which include ingredients including fermented beetroot, spiced bread shrub and bamboo charcoal. They also have a “Serious Cocktails” menu for those with a more sophisticated palate. Each week sees a brand new cocktail become Épernay’s ‘cocktail of the week’ – check our their Facebook page to see their current creation.
And for those of you commiserating another year of age, they also offer a “Birthday Treat” -a special birthday cocktail which comes with a secret surprise!
Also on offer is Épernay’s sweet and savoury Champagne brunch. With freshly cooked croissants, pain au chocolat, danish pastries, french cheese, cold meats, home made quiche and pâté with a side offering of croutons – it’s all served with award-winning Palmer & Co Champagne, orange juice and tea or coffee for £25 a head.
You can book in any Friday-Sunday from 12pm-4pm. They also offer three cheese boards, afternoon tea and snacks such as pâté, olives and French bread and oils.
A glass of “Bisol “Crede” Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G” is offered on the menu for £6.90, the perfect bubbly for an Italian-style aperitivo. It also pairs well with delicate fish-based dishes, we recommend trying it with their fresh French bread and Épernay’s Crab Meat Mayonnaise for £6.00.
A bottle of “Hattingley Valley Classic Cuvée Brut” can be enjoyed for £50. Well-balanced on the palate, this sparkling wine’s characteristic toasty flavour is the perfect aperitif or celebration drink.
Every Sunday Midday until 5pm, Épernay offer any glass of open bubbles for only £6.50.
Épernay is open 4pm-1:30am Monday-Thursday, 12pm-1:30am Friday-Saturday and 12pm-12am Sundays.
