21 Brunch Dishes You Have To Try In Manchester Before You Die

Manchester has plenty of it. So here’s the lowdown on the 21 dishes you just NEED to try.

1. Waffles with egg, bacon, blueberries and maple syrup – Home Sweet Home

A brunch fit for a king! And it comes in the true American style too, so you just can’t beat it.

Home Sweet Home is open 9:00 to 22:00 on Monday to Thursday, 9:00 to 23:00 on Friday and Saturday, and 9:00 to 21:00 on Sunday.

2. Steak and eggs – Pen and Pencil

4oz pave rump steak, two fried eggs and hollandaise sauce. Guaranteed to cure that hangover in no time!
Pen and Pencil is open 10:00 to 24:00 (kitchen closes at 21:00) on Monday to Wednesday, 10:00 to 2:00 (kitchen closes 21:00) on Thursday, 10:00 to 2:00 (kitchen closes at 20:00) on Friday and Saturday, 10:00 to 24:00 (kitchen closes 17:00) on Sunday. Brunch is served every day from 10:00 to 16:00.

3. Stephen Fry – Common

Your classic fry-up done just right. Sausages, bacon, egg, black pudding, beans, mushrooms, hash browns and toast. Delish!

Common is closed on Monday, but opens 11:00 to late on Tuesday to Friday, and 10:00 to late on Saturday and Sunday. Brunch is served 11:00 to 15:00 on Tuesday to Friday, and 10:00 to 15:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

4. French toast with summer berry compote, almonds, whipped vanilla mascarpone and salted caramel – Federal

Federal change their menu every month, but October’s brunch options look yummy! Who could resist this sweet start to the afternoon!?

Federal opens 7:30 to 20:00 on Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 22:00 on Saturday, and 8:00 to 17:00 on Sunday. Brunch is served all day.

5. Gin and beetroot cured salmon – Sugar Junction 

Why not try something a little different this weekend!? Great if you’re looking for the hair of the dog!

Sugar Junction is open 9:00 to 18:00 on Monday, 9:00 to 20:00 on Tuesday to Thursday, 9:00 to 23:00 on Friday and Saturday, and 9:00 to 18:00 on Sunday. Breakfasts are available until 17:00.

6. Eggs Benedict – Moose Coffee 

A classic done perfectly – you can’t go wrong. And to top it off, Moose Coffee offer a number of twists on the dish, from smoked salmon to spinach and garlic butter, and pulled pork to corned beef and potato hash. You can even combine two, so there’s something to please everyone.
Moose Coffee is open 8:00 to 17:00 on Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 18:00 on Saturday and 9:00 to 16:00 on Sunday. Breakfast is served until 30 minutes before closing time.

7. Chorizo Home Fries – Trof 

Not something you’d expect to see on a brunch menu, but it definitely works!
Trof opens 10am to 12am, but breakfast is served until 16:00.

8. Soft poached egg and hollandaise with avocado – Rosylee 

Great for vegetarians, this brunch will keep you going all day.
Rosylee is open 10:00 to 22:00 on Monday to Thursday, 10:00 to 23:00 on Friday and Saturday, and 10:00 to 19:00 on Sunday.

9. Toasted roll, Korean chicken, fried egg, chilli, watercress – Evelyn’s Café & Bar

Add an oriental twist to brunch. You won’t regret it!
Evelyn’s is open 09:00 to 23:00 every day.

10. Exoticado – Teacup

Includes poached duck egg, pan-fried exotic mushrooms and avocado on toast. What better way to start the day!?
Teacup is open 8:00 to 18:00 on Monday to Thursday, 8:00 to 20:00 on Friday, 9:00 to 20:00 on Saturday and 9:00 to 18:00 on Sunday.  Breakfasts are served all day.

11. Bottomless brunch – Neighbourhood

For those of us who are happy to splash out a little, Neighbourhood’s bottomless brunch is definitely worth splashing out on. Not only do you get a 2 course brunch in the price, but you get bottomless Bloody Mary, seasonal cocktails or Prosecco.
Bottomless brunch is served 10:00 to 13:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

12. Grilled cheese – North Tea Power

Another American classic which sits just right around brunch-time.
North Tea Poweris open 8:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 19:00 on Saturday and 10:00 to 18:00 on Sunday.

13. Salmon and cream cheese – Fig + Sparrow

Not only do Fig + Sparrow serve up great brunch, but they are also an Independent Design Shop so sell plenty of quality homeware items and gifts. So, why not pop in for a browse while you eat up all that delicious brunch!?
Fig + Sparrow is open 8:00 to 19:00 on Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 18:00 on Saturday and 11:00 to 18:00 on Sunday.

14. Huge breakfast – Simple Bar

The name says it all. Just like the ‘Stephen Fry’, only bigger. This will certainly fill you up for a while!
Simple Bar is open 11:30 to 23:00 on Monday to Friday, and 11:30 to 13:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

15. Pokusevski’s eggs – Pokusevski’s

Based in Media City, this café, deli and bar has so much to offer! Including this awesome brunch which is made up of poached eggs, spinach, bacon and hollandaise.
Pokusevski’s is open from 7:00 until late but stop serving food at 20:00 every day apart from Sunday, when they finish serving at 16:00. Breakfast is served until 12:00 every day.

16. Wild mushroom and duck egg – Allotment

Take some time to relax in the morning with this delicious dish at Allotment. And it’s easy to kick back in this relaxing bar where you’re surrounded by plants – the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Brunch is served 11:00 to 15:00.

17. Takk mac sandwich – Takk

Found only in Takk, say hello to the bacon butty with a twist. Maple smoked streaky bacon, smashed avocado and chipotle ketchup on sourdough. Yum!
Takk is open 8:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00 on Saturday, and 10:00 to 17:00 on Sunday. Brunch is served from 8:00 to 16:00 on Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 16:00 to Saturday and 10:00 to 16:00 on Sunday.

18. Champagne brunch – Épernary

This is more at the expensive end of the scale, but it’s definitely worth a try if you can afford to splash out at Épernary. The dish includes pastries, cheese, and cold meat with homemade quiche, pâtés and rosemary-infused croutons. All served with champagne of course! 
Served from 12:00 to 16:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

19. Pancakes – Café North

You can even pick your own toppings! So whether you’re feeling like having a fruity, savoury or sweet brunch, Café North is the place to be.
Café North opens 8:00 to 16:00 on Monday to Thursday, 8:00 to 17:00 on Friday, 8:00 to 18:00 on Saturday and 9:00 to 16:00 on Sunday.

20. Protein pancakes – Foundation Coffee House

And if you’d prefer to try and be a bit healthier, Foundation Coffee House is the perfect option.
Foundation opens from 7:30 to 18:00 on Monday and Tuesday, from 7:30 to 22:00 on Wednesday – Friday, 11:00 to 22:00 on Saturday and 12:00 to 18:00 on Sunday.

21. Proper bacon butty – Vivid Lounge

Just what you need to start the day off right. You can even add cheese, avocado or onion chutney for a few extra pennies. 
Breakfast at Vivid Lounge is served 7:30 to 11:30 on Monday – Friday, and 09:00 to 14:30 on Saturday and Sunday.
