Dine fine, food fans

The First Street development is about to get a lot more foodie with the arrival of MasterChef champion Simon Wood and his new eatery.

Wood Manchester is set to hit this summer, and the Oldham chef who wowed the BBC judges in 2015 with his inventive ideas and taste for the unusual is really going to kick up the dust in the city's foodie scene.

Labelled "unintimidating high end dining", the Wood website promises: "We will bring together passion and creativity with powerful flavours – delivered with playful authenticity.

"We aim to offer modern interpretations on traditional flavours focusing on simplicity and purity."

On the show, Gregg Wallace called Simon "an incredible talent", and he's since cooked as executive chef at Oldham Athletic FC and Oldham Event Centre.

Now he's finally opening his own eatery, we cannot wait to taste what he's got going on in the kitchen.
