Barrecore has become the go-to workout for Hollywood A-listers and models as of late. With the pilates and yoga craze showing no sign of slowing down, what makes Barrecore different?
We went to find out!
An intelligent exercise approach, Barrecore sets out to work every major muscle group in the body, promising to tone and burn fat, all the while improving motion and flexibility. Even after a few sessions people have said they have noticed a difference, seeing a workout at the barre creating the lean physique of a dancer.
With two studios in the North West situated in Hale and Alderley Edge, Barrecore also holds classes in lululemon Manchester throughout the week.
We went to try out Barrecore Hale and the BarreSIGNATURE class. As we entered the studio, we were greeted by the lovely Katharina who took us through what we could expect from the class. One thing that really sets Barrecore apart from other exercise classes is creating a personal approach to exercise. The instructors know the names of everyone who attends their classes and each one has no more than 10 participants. This creates a real feeling of community and removes any form of intimidation or hiding in the back hoping the instructor doesn’t see you!
Onto the class
BarreSIGNATURE, known as the original and most-loved Barrecore class began. Here we were taken through a unique combination of small intense movements, alternated with stretching. Starting out on a mat in the middle of the room, the class begins with a combination of bodyweight resistance and light props. We then moved to the barre focusing on legs, before finishing with a core workout.
Having been obsessed with ballet for as long as I can remember and dancing throughout my teens, I thoroughly enjoyed the elements of ballet movements incorporated into the session, but fear not, you don’t need to be a dancer to attend.
The high repetitions of the class exhausted all the major muscle groups giving me a full body workout that I’ve never experienced before. The perfect class for beginners who have never experienced Barrecore before, the BarreSIGNATURE is suitable for all fitness levels and will really give you a taste of what you can expect going forward.
You really do have to embrace the Barrecore ‘shake’, I can assure you, as will the instructors, that it’s perfectly normal! The class was intense but in the best way and I left feeling amazing and full of energy.
So what to wear to Barrecore?
Leggings and a vest or t-shirt is perfect and don’t forget your socks. The studio sells dedicated grippy socks which help to ensure stability during class. There’s also no need to bring any equipment with you to class, everything is provided for you.
Barrecore was founded in London in 2011 by celebrity trainer Niki Rein – originating in LA, the Barrecore workout was created from a method used to rehabilitate injured dancers.
If you’re looking for a new type of exercise that you will both enjoy and be challenged by, look no further. Barrecore will help you create a long and lean physique and I can guarantee you’ll never feel better.
You can book onto classes online with one class priced at £24, or we recommend purchasing the INTRO Unlimited Month pass for £135 which gives you 30 days to hit the barre hard and attend as many classes as you want.
Barrecore Hale is also offering Lovin Manchester readers the chance to attend your first BarreSIGNATURE session free of charge – to redeem please phone the studio on 01625 584 746 and quote LOVIN MANCHESTER.
