Cloud 23's craft cuisine has a heavy British influence using local and seasonal ingredients from around the Isles, bringing them together using culinary styles from around the world.

You can enjoy snacks such as salted caramel popcorn, peanut satay popcorn and wasabi green peas. Cloud 23 also serve a selection of mains including coriander & cumin spiced rump of lamb with Moroccan couscous salad & apricot salsa, and for vegetarians they serve roasted flat mushrooms topped with Applewood rarebit & caramelised red onion with toasted vine tomatoes and wilted greens.


Cloud 23 is open from 11am-1am Monday-Thursday, 11am-2am on Fridays and Saturdays and 11am-1am on Sunday. Their Food Menu is served 12pm - 8pm and Nibbles from 12pm -12am.

2. The Wharf

The Wharf Pub is located just a 7 minute walk away from Cloud 23, but in complete contrast it's Castlefield location by Bridgewater Canal gives it that country-pub feel. It's cosy rooms and alcoves make it a favourite for local residents and those a little further afield.

Their beautiful outdoor courtyard looks onto the canal, and you can spot the Beetham tower looking over Manchester in the distance.

The Wharf caters for every mood, providing intimate rooms and alcoves and dynamic areas with more buzz. 

Their 12 (yes 12!) chefs have been busy working on a menu of hearty British classics including deep fried haddock in beer batter with chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce for £13.95 and braised shoulder of lamb with dauphinoise potatoes, seasonal vegetables and red wine jus for £17.25. 

Their wine list features some 50 options so you can find the perfect accompaniment to your dish, whilst they also serve six different cask ales and over a hundred malts. They also serve Sunday Roasts starting at around £12.95.

The Wharf is open from 10:30am until 11pm Monday-Saturday and 10:30am-10:30pm on Sundays. Food is served from 12noon to 10pm Monday to Saturday and to 9:30pm on Sundays.

3. Barca

Barca is a stylish and vibrant bar located nearby The Wharf. A popular hangout with lots of outdoor seating and a contemporary bar area. 

Barca is also the only bar in Castlefield that currently has Sky Sports (go figure) so you can watch live sporting action in their trendy, modern bar area whilst enjoying drinks and mains such as 'The Monster' burger, a 6oz beef burger served on hash browns, a pile of smoked streaky bacon, onion rings and beef chilli topped with Pepper Jack cheese, served with crispy seasoned fries and salad.

The Lowry Hotel's River Restaurant serve breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. 

Their popular Sunday lunch menu costs just £22.50 per person and is always accompanied by live music. 

The layout of the dining room allows for an intimate and private dining experience whether you are dining as a couple or as a group. The Lowry Hotel's afternoon tea brings a British classic into a contemporary atmosphere in their sun-soaked, light, airy restaurant with views of the canal and bustling walkway below. 

Finger sandwiches are served alongside scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserve, pastries and dainty fancies with teas served for £22.50 per person, or £30 per person with Champagne.
