Six Super Cool Manchester Bars For Some Board Games And Banter
Perfect for a chilled Tuesday night
1. Hold Fast
Those on the hunt for a blast of nostalgia while enjoying some fine food and beer need look no further.
Hold Fast, located at Hatters Hostel on Newton Street in the Northern Quarter, is a nautical-themed bar and along with its curious decor and great atmosphere it possesses one of the most prized assets of a teen growing up in the late 90s and early 2000s.
That's right, a Nintendo 64 console takes pride of place in the venue and it really makes for a great day or night out with mates.
You'll barely feel the hours slipping by as you go hell for leather on Mario Kart while enjoying some of the best craft beer available in this city.
Bargain hunters could do worse than turning up for Happy Hour between 4pm and 7pm every day when two spirit & mixers cost just £6. It's the same price for house for two house beers and ciders and two deckhand cocktails are 9 quid. Full drinks menu can be checked out here.
The concept will probably be alien to you, but the kind guy at the desk explained that for 8p a minute the place is yours. That included everything from 100MB WIFI, tea and coffee, cakes and biscuits, cereals, books and board games.
Great place to while away the afternoon.
3. The Shack
Don't let the humdrum name fool you, The Shack is gloriously stocked with beer, prosecco, cider and some of the most wide-ranging ingredients for cocktail heaven (including a boozy popcorn milkshake) as well as a fierce ping-pong table among other gaming delights.
And if that's not enough, their burgers are pretty damn good too.
4. The Stokers Arms
Settle down with a pint and a game of Trivial Pursuit or even that old favourite - Operation! in this no-bones-about-it Didsbury favourite.
5. Lass O'Gowrie
A 'proper' Manchester pub-come-real-ale tavern hosting drama, comedy, music and big-screen sports as well, of course, as hearty British roasts. Ask behind the bar for their selection of classic board games!
6. TwentyTwenty Two
This Dale Street favourite is in the heart of the city and is a ping pong fan's dream! Grab a pint or a cheeky G&T and while away the January blues with a spot of playful competition.
