These Insane Drag Queens Are Coming To Manchester This Christmas

Manchester, start your engines!

Get ready to flood your basements girls as five of the most beloved queens from Rupaul's Drag Race will be taking to the stage in Manchester next month as part of their Christmas Queens tour.

Fan favourites Manila Luzon, Phi Phi O'Hara, Alaska Thunderf*ck, Detox and Katya are headlining the festive extravaganza, hosted by feisty RPDR judge Michelle Visage at Manchester Academy on 5th December.

What's the T?

The queens will be serving up some Christmas realness, showcasing the recently released album Christmas Queens 2, available on iTunes.

The album features festive tracks with a “sickening” twist such as “Chr!$Tm@$ $Ux” (Alaska) and “Bossa Nova Christmas in Outer space” (Jackie Beat & Katya).

In recent years Rupaul's Drag Race has developed something of a cult following in the UK, as we only have access to the show on Netflix as opposed to regular TV.

Thus, Manchester's die hard fans have seemingly already snapped up all of the VIP tickets to the Christmas Queens show which are currently 'not available'.

So you may have missed the opportunity to attend an official meet and greet with the fierce and fishy queens, but you never know, you might catch them partying on the gay village afterwards – just last month Jinkx Monsoon posted a picture on Instagram with Katya and Trixie Mattel at Canal Street haunt KiKi.

Who is performing?

Michelle Visage has been a judge on RPDR since series three. The boobelicious babe can be a harsh critic but is well-loved by contestants and fans of the show alike. Visage became a household name in the UK after appearing on Celerity Big Brother in 2015.

Manila Luzon placed in the top three of series three of RPDR and returned for the first series of All Stars. She is known for her conceptual looks on the runway (the pineapple and Sesame Street-themed dresses) as well as her comedic talent.

Phi Phi O'Hara also placed in the top three of her series, series four, and featured on All Stars 2. Phi Phi received a lot of flack for being a conniving and bitchy queen with many seeing her as the villain of her series. But it's all entertaining though, right?

Alaska missed out on the series five crown but [potential spoiler alert] went on to win All Stars 2. She's known for being one of the strongest contenders that ever featured on RPDR. Her catchphrase is, “HIEEEE!”

Detox came fourth in series five before returning as a seriously strong contender to All Stars 2, in which she was runner-up to Alaska. Her unique, high fashion looks (the black and white make-up) wowed us all and Detox has a huge fan base.

Katya placed in the high end of season seven and made the final of All Stars 2. She is a firm fan favourite, with many believing that the crown was stolen from her not once, but twice. She's known for being loveable, hilarious and a bit wacky in and out of drag. Her main character is that of a Russian prostitute with a long and complicated name.
