You asked him to put a ring on it… but you don’t dare ask about the price.
Wonder no more. Online jewellery retailer, William May, has conducted a survey of 2,250 Brits revealing that the average man is prepared to spend £1,471.01 on an engagement ring.
To us, that sounds reasonable, but it just happens to be £383 less than the average woman would like her future husband to spend.
Metro reported that of the women surveyed, the general consensus on engagement rings among women was they they should cost around £1854. So basically, women would like their men to be splashing out under under £2k on that bling.
As well as having feelings on the price, British women also have strong feelings on the selection process, with 51.3% of women saying that they would rather pick out their own engagement ring than leave it up to their partner. So I guess the ‘surprise factor’ is becoming old news…
And, when you see what British men said about the selection process, you might not be surprised that women want to choose their own.
The Metro went on to report that British men seem to like to get the job done quickly, as 20% admitted that they simply picked ‘the first one I saw’, 10% said they ‘saw it advertised’ and only 6.7% said ‘a friend advised me’.
