As much as we adore Manchester – truly – sometimes it can feel a little bit claustrophobic with the build-up in the city centre and so many buildings, offices, restaurants, bars and what-not appearing in every nook and cranny.
Seriously, where is the breathing space nowadays?
Thankfully, across the region there are some stunning spots that are just waiting to be discovered.
And a crisp day like today is perfect for a walk and we’ve got just the place for you: Fairy Glen, Appley Bridge.
And it’s just as beautiful as it sounds. If you’ve surprisingly never been, it’s home to the most picturesque woodlands filled with trees where you can explore the winding routes and follow a babbling brook. We think it’s one of the most relaxing places around the city.
And when you’re ready for a brew or refreshing coffee the rural village of Appley Bridge is just behind the more secluded, tranquil atmosphere of Fairy Glen.
With its spectacular waterfalls and cliff faces, it’s hard to believe this place is so close to the metropolis of Manchester city centre that we call home.
