Doctor Who fans unite as a Manchester venue is set to transform into an immersive WHO-niverse.
Vworp Con will see actors, including former Time Lords, alongside companions, scriptwriters and episode directors, step into Manchester Metropolitan University’s The Union for an independent celebration of The Doctor.
Coming to Manchester on Sunday 8th September, guests can expect to see some of their favourite Doctor Who actors, including Sylvester McCoy (The Doctor), Tim Treloar (The Doctor), Sophie Aldred (Ace), Wendy Padbury (Zoe), Frazer Hines (Jamie), Phil Davies (Lucius), John Leeson (the voice of K-9) and more.
And of course, no Doctor Who fan convention would be complete without the TARDIS, Daleks or Davros.
This year, Vworp Con organisers say the convention is completely not-for-profit, with proceeds going to local cancer charity and hospital, The Christie.
With the hashtag #exterminatecancer, organisers have created a “selfie corner”, where instead of taking pictures with your favourite guests at tables, there will be a dedicated time slot over in the selfie corner with a suggested donation of £5 for the charity.
A Vworp spokesperson said: “Every single guest on the bill will have a timed slot at Selfie Corner and for a suggested donation of five pounds they will take selfies with you using your phone.
“In order to raise as much money as we can we will have a member of Vworp Staff at the corner ensuring that phones are ready and photos are taken to ensure that the maximum amount of folks move through and the maximum amount of cash can be raised.”
There will also be several Doctor Who themed panels throughout the day on The Hartnell Stage.
Tickets for Vworp start at £9.50 for kids and £22.50 for adults and you can buy some here.
