A number of bars in Chorlton are coming together this weekend to support an initiative to raise funds and awareness for the Charity, Poverty Child.

The charity, which was established in 2013, aims to support children in developing countries who are living in extreme poverty. The nonprofit organisation is dedicated to providing children living in slums across the world access to proper nutrition, security and to improve their overall wellbeing.

They raise funds through direct donations, however, they also raise funds by collecting and recycling or reselling unwanted clothes or old gadgets.

This is where you come in.

This weekend, head to your local Chorlton bar, have a pint and donate any unwanted clothing or gadgets that you have lying around the house. It’s as easy as that.

The venues that are participating are Dulcimer Bar, Proof Chorlton, The Font Chorlton, The Beagle and Electrik.

Instead of letting your unwanted clothes and gadgets sit around your house and collect dust, you can drop them off to your local Chorlton drinking hole and make a meaningful difference to Street Children around the world.

The money raised from recycling your old goods will go towards funding Mobile Healthcare Clinics, Street Schools, Day Centres, Foster Care and Night Care Centres.

At Poverty Child we believe that no one should be the victim of abuse, neglect, or cruelty, as a result of being impoverished. That’s why, this year, we’re saying #StandUpStandOut to help put an end to the exploitation that victims in the poorest communities around the world. Our fundraising campaign is designed to help those who need it most. By partnering with @fairplayforallfoundation we’re taking the stance that 2017 is the year to say enough is enough. We need your help to end the abuse and victimisation that happens as a result of poverty. If you believe the same as us, we need your help. By running a fundraising event, you can help us to raise money and awareness so that we can make a difference.
