The Ivy Asia Are Hosting The Ultimate Chinese New Year Party

This is the place to be this Chinese New Year.

Unlike us here in the UK, the traditional Chinese Calendar does not end on the 31st of December, rather they will be celebrating their New Year on the 5th of February 2019. Which is great for us as dry January will FINALLY be over!

While Manchester city will be putting on a spectacular celebration in honour of Chinese New Year fit with food, fireworks and Dragons, the party doesn’t stop there.

The Ivy Asia will be celebrating Chinese New Year in style between the 4th and 10th February. Located on the 2nd floor of The Ivy Spinningfields, the popular bar & restaurant is THE place to be this Chinese New Year with food, cocktails and a special Chinese umbrella installation - which if their famous interiors are anything to go off, will be just as spectacular.

According to the Chinese zodiac, this is the ‘Year of the Pig’ which the decor and even the brand new cocktail menu of The Ivy Asia will honour. There are five pigs in the Chinese Zodiac - metal, water, wood, fire and earth - and each of these has been given their own special cocktail:

Metal (£11.95) - Chivas, Chinese spiced syrup, Port & mint - served Julep style in a metal cup, garnished with a banana leaf.

Water (£10.50) - Roku, Blue Curacao, Yuzu, syrup, cucumber and micro onion - garnished with dehydrated lime and micro lemon balm.

Fire (£8.50) - Sake, Umeshu, Lillet Blanc, lychee syrup, grenadine, plum bitters and banana foam - garnished with toast foam.

Earth (£8.00) - Midori, Cacao Blanc, Yuzu, egg white, syrup - garnished with edible soil and Gypsophila.

Wood (£11.95) - Roku, Campari, Borolo, espresso and Bob’s Chocolate Bitters - served in a cinnamon smoked glass.
