Wine is a God send.
Jesus turned boring old water into wine so you know it must be good for you.
My love of wine runs deep. No night on the couch watching Netflix is complete without a cheeky glass of vino.
Which is why I was so excited to hear that The People’s Choice Wine Awards were finally making their way to Manchester for the first time.
The awards, which will be presented by local talent Kate Goodman (BBC Food and Drink presenter and owner of Reserve Wines) and Amelia Singer (The Wine Show and Jaime’s Drinks tube).
These awards are markedly different to other national wine awards in that WE the consumer have a say in the judging process – meaning it’s possible that the blanc you pick up from ASDA on the regular has a very real chance of being a winner.

Let’s take a look at the finalists in these categories: 1. Blow out wines 2. Heavy duty wines 3. Party central wines 4. Bargain buys 5. One man and his BBQ 6. Sweets for my sweet 7. War of the Rosés 8. Pizza night #PCWineAwards #finalists #peopleswinerevolution #wine #welovewine????
The night itself won’t be a posh and snotty affair, which you can imagine other Wine awards would be. It promises to be a fun, informal night with a whole lot of comedy. Even the categories of wine awards are complete unique, with names like ‘One Man and His BBQ’, ‘Girls’ Night In’ and ‘Pizza Night Wine’ – making it much easier for the average joe to pick a decent wine to match the event.
Tickets to the event are only £55pp which includes all food and drink before and during the ceremony, plus the night of entertainment. If you can’t make the event, however, they will be live streaming the results on social media so you can cheer for your favourite bottle of vino when it takes the top spot.
The second People’s Choice Wine Awards ceremony is happening at Manchester’s The Comedy Store, on Monday 25th February 2019 from 7pm.
