It has been 8 years since the final Harry Potter instalment graced our screens and since then there has been a lighting bolt shaped hole left in my life.

I know we’ve had glimpses into the Wizarding World through the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and movie franchise Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. But it’s just not the same.

However, if we are to believe Daniel Radcliffe aka Harry Potter himself, we may be getting a Harry Potter reboot sooner than we think.

Speaking to IGN Daniel Radcliffe posited that it was only a matter of time before the Harry Potter franchise was rebooted in either a TV show or movie series.

Radcliffe mused that a reboot of Harry Potter is inevitable: I’m sure there will be some other version of it; I know I’m not the last Harry Potter I’m gonna see in my lifetime”

“It will be interesting to see how long those films stay… it feels like there’s a sacredness around them at the moment, but that’ll go, the shine will wear off at some point…It’ll be interesting if they reboot them and just do the films again or do a series; I’m fascinated to watch.”

Which is not too far fetched an idea considering the successful reboots of popular movies such as Spiderman and basically any Disney movie. Huge franchises are even making there way to the silver screen with Amazon recently announcing plans to produce a Lord of the Rings adaption for their streaming service.

Fans on Twitter were naturally divided in their opinions of a potential reboot, with many not wanting a reboot to ruin the original series. However, some are excited at the thought, even putting forward there own story line ideas.

It will be interesting to see if Radcliffe’s prediction will come true, and there will be some sort of Potter reboot in the future. I for one would love to see a prequel series focusing on the Marauders, otherwise known as James Potter, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew and Sirius Black and it turns out Radcliffe agrees. Speaking to TV guide Radcliffe said “A series with the older generation, that could be very cool.”
