Manchester’s newest dining concept, Six By Nico, has just launched its new menu, following the wild success of its first, The Chippie.

The new menu for Six By Nico’s Manchester restaurant is ‘Mexico’, which launched on Tuesday 20th August.

Chef Nico Simeone’s six-course tasting menu combines elements of both contemporary Mexican street food and ancient culinary classics, featuring pork belly, burrata, avocado, and more.

We went down to have a taste – did it live up to ‘The Chippie’?

Six By Nico changes its menu every six weeks and the new menu ‘Mexico’ is running until the end of September. As well as the regular menu, there is a vegetarian alternative available for every course, as well as snack sides.

I had a taste of the vegetarian menu and it’s fresh, light and a stark contrast to ‘The Chippie’. But in a good way.

Like with all great Mexican food, the emphasis is always on fresh ingredients, and Nico’s menu truly delivers that. One taste of the Lettuce, Lime Leaf & Avocado Gazpacho to start and it was obvious what we were getting ourselves into.

So what’s on the menu?

AMUSE BOUCHE – Lettuce, Lime Leaf & Avocado Gazpacho, Pico De Gallo Salsa.

BLOW TORCHED MACKEREL – Watermelon, Green Cilantro Taco, Whipped Creme Fraiche.

FRESH BURRATA – Green Chilli Salsa Verde, Cucumber Ketchup, Garden Herbs, Green Tomato Tostada.

SEA BASS – White Bean Hash, Chorizo, Pumpkin, Squid Ink & Lemon Emulsion.

PORK BELLY – Barbecued Elote, Crispy Fried Cornichon, Roasted Quince.

CHOCOLATE CRÉMEUX – Banana Ice Cream, Vanilla & Agave Gel, Candied Hazelnuts, Chocolate Taco, Banana Crisp.

Vegetarian

CHAYOTE PUMPKIN – White Bean Hash, Lemon Emulsion, Pumpkin Seed Pesto

ELOTE – Crispy Fried Cornichon, Roasted Quince, Smoked Masa Dumpling, Smoked Paprika.

CHOCOLATE CRÉMEUX – Banana Ice Cream, Vanilla & Agave Gel, Candied Hazelnuts, Chocolate Taco, Banana Crisp.

Diners at Six By Nico also have the option to add on snacks, including a Hard Shell Chicken Leg or Jackfruit Taco with Guacamole, Pico De Gallo Salsa, Spiced Emulsion and Gordal Olives at £5 per person.
