A brand new foodie concept is heading to Manchester this month, bringing along an exciting new menu for Mancs to try out.

Six By Nico, the brainchild of renowned Scottish-Italian chef Nico Simeone, is opening a restaurant in Manchester this July – and the the first menu theme has just been announced.

What’s the concept behind Six By Nico?

Every six weeks, Six By Nico serves a brand new six-course tasting-menu – each one themed upon a different place, memory or idea. So you and your mates could be trying a fresh menu with brand new dishes every time you dine.

What’s Manchester’s first theme?

Six By Nico, which is based in Spring Gardens in the city centre, has just revealed its new theme when it opens in July: the local chip shop. You can’t get more English than that.

‘The Chippie’ will kick-start the series of evolving concepts, with flavours of the traditional fish and chip shop taking centre stage on the menu.

The six dishes for ‘The Chippie’ are based on classics found in a traditional fish & chip shop, each one featuring a contemporary twist by Nico and his team.

What’s on the menu?

CHIPS & CHEESE – Parmesan Espuma, Curry Oil, Salt and Vinegar Potato Croquette.

SCAMPI – Monkfish Cheeks, Pea Emulsion, Herb Butter Sauce, Gribiche.

STEAK PIE – Beef Shin, Burnt Onion Ketchup, Mushroom Duxelle, Red Wine.

FISH SUPPER – Cod, Confit Fennel, Samphire, Beer Pickled Mussels, Brandade.

SMOKED SAUSAGE – Pork Belly, Salt Baked Celeriac, Caramelised Apple, Black Pudding.

DEEP FRIED MARS BAR– Caramelia Chocolate Mousse, Orange Sorbet, Cocoa Nib.

The new menu by Six By Nico will run from 14th July until Sunday 18th August 2019, Tuesday to Sunday, and diners can exclusively book a table through Lovin Manchester.

So what’s it like?

Last week, we visited Six By Nico Edinburgh to get a feel for what Nico and his team have to offer. It’s refreshing to see the idea of fine dining turned on its head and given a casual twist. The menu isn’t expensive – six courses for £28 per person – and each dish is delicious and extensively thought out.

You feel as though you’re at some fancy, five-star hotel when you’re served a six course meal. In reality, you’re at a restaurant with your mates, enjoying some tasty food for a reasonable price.

There’s the option of pairing the tasting menu with a specially selected wine menu. For an additional £25, you get a glass of wine for each food course, paired exquisitely by Nico and the team.

I’d say that’s cheap as chips, but that might be hitting the nail on the head.

When can you book?

Now now now!!!

Six by Nico Manchester will open its doors on July 14th 2019. You can book a table here.

Chef Nico Simeone said: “Most people are familiar with the tastes and scents of their local chip shop and we wanted to take the idea of the everyday chippie menu and re-invent it to create a playful food experience that guests would recognise and be amazed by.”
