To people who’ve never suffered with acne, it’s no big deal, but if you are currently suffering or ever have battled with the skin condition, you will know that it is a deeply upsetting and personal battle… one that makes you feel ashamed, ugly, and very much in pain.
It’s no picnic.
There have been all sorts of pills and over-the-counter medicines made available over the last few years – with demand becoming ever more prevalent, but experts now say that finding a way to treat the condition naturally from within may be the way forward.
Researchers from the University of California (San Diego) have made a breakthrough they claim, discovering that it’s now possible to fight the toxin secreted by the bacteria most involved in acne with a very specific antibody.
Doing so would also reduce the inflammation and redness which is often the cause of much distress for regular acne sufferers.
A large-scale clinical trial will of course be necessary before any commercial steps are taken to make this product available, but according to lead researcher Chun-Ming Huang:
“The potential impact of our findings is huge for the hundreds of millions of individuals suffering from acne vulgaris.”
